BMC V2 description

BMC motors have an amazing hill climbing ability for their small size and weight of 10 pounds. Internal planetary gears allow motor to spin 5 times faster than the wheel significantly increasing efficiency and torque compared to gearless (direct drive) hub motors. Built-in cluth (one way bearing) disconnects motor from the wheel when unpowered which also increases efficiency by eliminating unnecessary drag on throttle down. Motor accepts standard 6 hole MTB disc brake rotor, and standard freewheel cogset, 7 or less speed freewheels recommended, but 8, 9, and 10spd freewheels will work with a spacer washer (included with a motor). 36 spoke holes.

We believe V2T (Torque) is the best motor for the money currently available from BMC. While V2S (Speed) has been discontinued and became V4C (Cruiser), V2T is still being produced and has latest major upgrades: doubled phase wires throught the axle and latest V4 clutch, but costs less than V4 line of motors. BMC claims V4 motors are more efficient but so far our tests suggest that V2T and V4T have same efficiency, however, more thorough tests are need to confirm this.

This motor has the highest torque at lower speeds and is ideal for hilly terrin and heavier vehicles. Top speed in 26" wheel at 50V, 25A is 25-27mph on a flat.
